Introducing “Sky Hunter”

A new project I’ve got in the works combines Skylanders and my twist on the art of Monster Hunter.

For those unaware, Skyalnder toys use RFID technology (anyone who has visited hotels or arcades has used cards with these chips). Thanks to the efforts of the fanbase, it’s now possible to spoof any Skylander onto said chips. This is fantastic news, as it removes the need for figures that are no longer in circulation.

Naturally, I won’t settle for a bunch of plain white cards with crude Sharpie doodles. I want to adorn them with something fancier! That’s where project “Sky Hunter” comes in.

A quick mockup of the card art

It’s a daunting task, but I plan to create art for every Skylander across the 6 games that were released. Today, I can share the first 9 I’ve completed. The black/grey outlines won’t be included in the final product; they were added to stand out from the background I threw together.

My ultimate plan is to sell these designs. I’ll have to research whether or not I’d take commissions to create stickers. Luckily, I can guarantee they’ll be available as PDFs for anyone to purchase (with additional color options to reduce ink usage on printers).

Note that because of concerns of intellectual property infringement, I won’t be selling RFID cards with the Skylanders preloaded onto them. I could eventually create tutorials to help out any enthusiast.

I’ll provide updates as I finish more of these icons!
